Ayurveda is widely recognised as a holistic healing system that cures diseases from their roots — addressing ailments of not just the body, but the mind as well. However, Ayurveda is deeply rooted in profound philosophical backgrounds (Darshanas). It is not merely a science dealing with physiology and pathology; it contains sophisticated concepts operating at the subtlest subconscious levels, which we commonly overlook.

One such profound concept is सृष्टि उत्पत्ति (Srishti Utpatti) — the Creation of the Universe. When we read or hear about this, our minds often gravitate toward the Big Bang Theory. However, when we observe ourselves deeply, we find rhythmic pulses inside and outside our bodies — particles constantly being created and destroyed — which is precisely what our great sages described centuries ago.

The Idea of Quantum Physics in Srishti Utpatti

Even within Ayurveda and ancient Indian philosophy, there are multiple perspectives on the principles of creation. Each tradition approached the same fundamental question from a different angle — from Sankhya's Avyakta to modern science's electrons and subatomic particles.

Sankhya Darshana — The 25 Elements

Sankhya Darshana proposes the Panchavimshati Tattva (25 elements) for the evolution of creation. From Moola Prakriti (Avyakta) combined with Purusha emerges Mahat (Cosmic Intelligence), then Trividha Ahankara (Threefold Ego), then the Ekadasha Indriyas, Pancha Tanmatras, and Pancha Mahabhutas.

Sushruta Samhita — The Shat Karanas

Acharya Sushruta accepted the Panchavimshati Tattva alongside the Shat Karanas (Six Causes) as the core principles of creation.

स्वभावमीश्वरं कालं यदृच्छा नियतिं तथा। परिणामं च मन्यन्ते प्रकृतिं पृथुदर्शिनः॥
svabhāvam īśvaraṁ kālaṁ yadṛcchā niyatiṁ tathā | pariṇāmaṁ ca manyante prakṛtiṁ pṛthudarśinaḥ ||
— Su. Sha. 1/11 — Those of broad vision consider Swabhava, Ishwara, Kala, Yadriccha, Niyati, and Parinama as the causes of Prakriti.

Charaka Samhita — The Chaturvimshati Tattva

Unlike Sushruta and Sankhya, Acharya Charaka presented the Chaturvimshati Tattva (24 elements), viewing Purusha and Prakriti as inseparable (Abheda).

अव्यक्तमस्य क्षेत्रस्य क्षेत्रज्ञमृषयो विदुः।
avyaktamasya kṣetrasya kṣetrajñam ṛṣayo viduḥ |
— Cha. Sha. 1/65 — The sages know the Unmanifest as the Field (Kshetra), and its Knower (Kshetrajna) as the one who resides within it.

The Parallels with Modern Quantum Physics

This ancient understanding deeply mirrors the findings of modern quantum physics. German physicist and Nobel Laureate Dr. Hans-Peter Dürr, in his article "Matter is Not Made Out of Matter", beautifully encapsulated this convergence:

"I have been a nuclear scientist looking for matter. One fine day, I found there is no matter at all, but I wasn't worried because I was expecting the same. I called it 'Aduality' — no duality between matter and energy — but who am I in front of the great Indian sage Shankaracharya, who called it 'Adwaita' centuries ago?" — Dr. Hans-Peter Dürr

Adwaita Siddhantha — The Doctrine of Non-Duality

बहिरन्तश्च भूतानामचरं चरमेव च। सूक्ष्मत्वात्तदविज्ञेयं दूरस्थं चान्तिके च तत्॥
bahir antaś ca bhūtānām acaraṁ caram eva ca | sūkṣmatvāt tad avijñeyaṁ dūrasthaṁ cāntike ca tat ||
— Bhagavad Gita 13/15 — It exists inside and outside of all beings, moving and unmoving. It is so subtle that it is incomprehensible; it is far away, yet it is very near.

Fritjof Capra and The Dance of Shiva

Physicist Fritjof Capra, in The Tao of Physics, described sitting by the ocean and suddenly becoming aware of the cosmic dance of energy — the same phenomenon Shiva embodies as Lord of Dancers. The language of physics and the language of Vedanta had arrived at the same door from different directions.

Conclusion

When we deeply observe ourselves and the universe, we discover rhythmic pulses inside and outside our bodies — everywhere, particles are constantly being created and destroyed. This profound cosmic rhythm, articulated centuries ago by great sages like Adi Shankaracharya and Acharya Charaka, is the exact same phenomenon being described by modern minds like Dr. Hans-Peter Dürr and Fritjof Capra today. The language differs; the truth is one.
